After more than 30 years of independent operation, The Litchfield Company Real Estate and Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort in Litchfield Beach, South Carolina, recently agreed to merge into a single business.
Operating as the Litchfield Company, the new entity will provide real estate marketing and sales, long-term rentals, on-site vacation rentals, as well as real estate development.
“This is an exciting day,” Royce King, CEO of The Litchfield Company, said. “In many respects we are putting the original Litchfield Company back together and returning to our roots. We now have the ability to not only develop and sell property to our customers, but we can also rent those properties for them. This will be better for our customers and us.”
Founded in 1956, The Litchfield Company sold Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort to the Myrtle Beach National Company in 1990.
“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with The Litchfield Company in this new endeavor,” Matthew Brittain, CEO of Myrtle Beach National, said. “We are much stronger together than separate and will now be able to efficiently grow the new business far beyond where we could have by remaining independent.”
The company will operate from its current facility near the entrance gate of Litchfield By The Sea.
“This is just the first step to achieving our overall vision for The Litchfield Company,” J. Edward (Ed) Bell III, majority owner in The Litchfield Company Real Estate, said. “This allows us to greatly expand our footprint and operations along the entire East Coast. Not only is this good for our customers, it is a great opportunity for our talented team members and our company.”
