Leadership Charleston, part of the Charleston, South Carolina, Metro Chamber of Commerce, is now reviewing all applications for the upcoming class of 2016.
Established in 1974, the leadership program is a highly sought professional development opportunity program. For more than 40 years, the program has been detecting and creating leaders throughout communities. There are now more than 2000 graduates from the program, and they have gone on to become leaders in global, regional and local industries, civic stewardship and legislative appointments.
Leadership Charleston concentrates on the main issues in the region, such as infrastructure, crime, business advocacy and workforce development. Program participants learn from prominent speakers, like regional leaders and program alumni, throughout their schooling. The 10-month program has a two-day orientation, beginning in September, and then has one-day sessions every month. The specific elements of Leadership Charleston are intended to improve participants’ civic knowledge and create important leadership skills.
“Roper St. Francis Healthcare has been a strong supporter of Leadership Charleston for many years,” Roper S. Francis Healthcare President and CEO David Dunlap said. “We have sponsored this program and had a Roper employee participate in the program every year. It is a great way to expose our employees to the community around them and help them understand how to grow as a leader.”
