Thirty-six business leaders from Charleston, South Carolina, were in Richmond, Virginia, May 12-14 to explore Richmond’s progress and learn about infrastructure, innovation and biotechnology efforts.
The trip was part of the Metro Leadership Visit (MLV), which presents an opportunity for business leaders to learn, collaborate and create relationships. Business leaders were given valuable insight to help shape Charleston metro’s future.
The trip started in Washington, D.C., where participants met with members of North Carolina's delegation and staff on Capitol Hill. The travelers then headed to Richmond where they were given an overview of Rocketts Landing Mixed Use Development and a tour of Stone Brewery.
On the second day of the Richmond trip, MLV participants were given a a tour of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and listened to presentations on the Capital Regional Collaborative and the Bus Rapid Transit/Transportation system. Attendees also heard presentations from local business leaders on the Virginia BioTechnology Park, Creativity and Innovation, and entrepreneurship in Richmond.
At the close of the trip, travelers attended a reception held at MWV, which is headquartered in Richmond, where they were introduced to John Luke, Donna Cox and Ned Masse of MWV.
