Magnolia Plantation and Gardens has filled two staff positions in charge of coordinating corporate and social events and weddings.
A former sales and catering manager at Virginia mountaintop resort Leanza Kauffman was named event manager at Magnolia.
Kauffman has a double degree from the University of Central Florida in event management and hospitality management. She has coordinated weddings as a summer intern at the Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina. At Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke, Virginia, she supervised corporate and social events.
Kauffman said she’s excited to get to focus on social events and weddings on a larger scale with weddings taking place all year.
Kauffman replaces Jessica Cruz, who is leaving to start a wedding planning service.
“Jessica has done a phenomenal job in transforming Magnolia into a premier wedding venue,” Magnolia Executive Director Tom Johnson said. “We wish her well in her business, and I am sure we’ll see her here with her clients. Magnolia’s events office now has a dynamic duo led by Leanza.”
Maclain Copeland has been appointed at the new assistant events manager.
Copeland, a recent graduate of East Carolina University, was an intern with the Cumberland Hospitality Group in Nashville, Tennessee. She assisted designers and planners with multiple special events
