On May 13 at 2 p.m., representatives from a variety of business organizations, travel and tourism groups, public safety offices and local chambers of commerce will converge on the south steps of the North Carolina State House.
The coalition will gather to show support for a highway funding bill that will go to the house this session.
"We are going to bring the discussion to our lawmakers’ doorstep and show them that we will not wait until 2017 for a highway funding bill to pass," an announcement on the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce website said. "Please take the time to join us and let your senator know that you will not stand for another year of no commitments to repair and maintain our failing roads, bridges and highways. Let them know that they need to stop the politics and start moving forward with passing meaningful legislation to fund our transportation infrastructure."
After the rally, participants will have the opportunity to go to the second floor lobby of the State House, where they will have the opportunity to write a note to their senator expressing their desire that the highway funding bill be passed before the end of 2015.
