National Small Business Week begins with Columbia, S.C., press conference

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Columbia and Richland County, South Carolina, will kick off National Small Business Week with a press conference at chamber offices, on May 4 starting at 2 p.m.


The Columbia Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Columbia and Richland County, South Carolina, will kick off National Small Business Week with a press conference at chamber offices, on May 4 starting at 2 p.m.

Featured speakers will include Mayor Steve Benjamin and Richland County Chairman Torrey Rush, as well as three Columbia chamber officers: Lee Catoe, director of community affairs and small business; Carl Blackstone, president and CEO; and Boyd Jones, chairman.

National Small Business Week is a nationwide event sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Columbia has participated in National Small Business Week for the past three years with local programs and events designed to support the presence of small business in the community.

2015 Small Business Week officially runs from May 4 through May 8. The Chamber plans to sponsor several programs in recognition of the event, including a luncheon and seminar preceding and following the press conference.

The press conference is slated for the Columbia Chamber’s office at 930 Richland St. from 2 to 3:30 p.m. A reception will follow. Columbia Chamber, the unified voice of business in the Midlands, is a private, nonprofit organization serving and supporting the success of its partners since 1902.
