Collins & Lacy PC recently announced that Laura Robinson has joined the firm’s Columbia office, where she will be a special counsel for workers’ compensation claims.

Because she previously served at the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce as well as an insurance company on an executive management team, she has a unique perspective that is useful to cases.

“Laura understands the needs of employers and carriers, and she advocates on their behalf in all stages of the workers’ compensation process,” Ellen Adams, chair of Collins & Lacy's workers’ compensation practice group, said. “We are excited to have Laura join the firm and our practice group.”

Robinsons' experience is in commercial and business litigation, and she has represented clients in federal and state courts, arbitration and mediation. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from William Smith College in New York, and later attended the University of South Carolina School of Law for her juris doctor.

“Joining the Collins & Lacy team was a perfect fit for me,” Robinson said. “It allows me to use my experience from working inside the industry to help our clients achieve the results they want, and I am able to work side by side with some of the best lawyers in the state.”
