WellCare Health Plans, Inc., said on Thursday that it has formed a partnership with Teleperformance, one of the leading outsourced multichannel customer-experience management companies in the world.
The move expands WellCare’s call-center operations and will create 150 jobs at Teleperformance's existing call center in Columbia, South Carolina. The Columbia-based agents provide customer service to Medicaid members throughout South Carolina and Kentucky.
The companies celebrated their partnership and the new job opportunities with a press conference and ceremony attended by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Ray Farmer, director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance.
"It truly is a great day in South Carolina when a company like WellCare, that already calls South Carolina home, expands their operations in our state," Haley said. "WellCare's decision to bring 150 more jobs to the Midlands is a testament to the company and South Carolina's dedicated work force, and one more reason South Carolina is on the move."
"Today, WellCare coordinates care for approximately 107,000 seniors and low-income children and families in South Carolina," Kathy Warner, chief operating officer of WellCare of South Carolina, said. "We are committed to helping them navigate the health care system to ensure they get the quality care they need for improved health outcomes."
