The Cliffs at Mountain Park in South Carolina made the list of Golfweek's coveted Best 100 Modern Courses in America, 2015 on Friday.
The Gary Player Signature designed private course was ranked No. 100, making this the first of any of The Cliffs' seven championship golf courses to place on the prestigious list. Golfweek also ranked The Cliffs at Mountain Park at No. 43 and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards at No. 56 on the Top 100 Residential Courses of 2015 listing.
"For such a new course, we are blown away and truly honored for The Cliffs at Mountain Park to be in such esteemed company," The Cliffs' Director of Golf Brian Peeples said. "We take great pride in keeping our courses in pristine condition for our membership and their guests, but the validation of outside professionals on the quality of the golf experience here really is significant for all of us."
In late 2014, The Cliffs hosted senior staff and raters of Golfweek for several days. Golfweek staff had access to three of The Cliffs' seven courses: The Cliffs at Mountain Park (Gary Player Signature design), The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards (Tom Fazio design) and The Cliffs at Walnut Cove (Jack Nicklaus Signature design).
"I have played a number of courses here at The Cliffs, and they are simply spectacular. The scenery, the topography, and the hospitality were wonderful,” Golfweek Rater Hilary Fordwich said.
Designed by Gary Player, The Cliffs at Mountain Park is an 18-hole championship golf course set along the ridgelines of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Both GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest recognized The Cliffs at Mountain Park as a Best New Private Course upon its debut.
