Amazon is hiring 500 additional full-time employees at its West Colombia, South Carolina, fulfillment center in order to meet growing customer demands.
Employees hired to fill the positions will pick, pack and ship customer orders.
“For a company like Amazon to make the decision to expand its operations in South Carolina, it is a special source of pride and a reason to celebrate because it proves what we already know – that we have a world-class work force and competitive business environment,” South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said. “The 500 new jobs this expansion will create is terrific news for the Midlands community, and we look forward to watching Amazon continue to grow here for many years to come.”
Since opening in 2012, the Amazon fulfillment center has brought more than 1,500 full-time jobs to West Colombia.
Amazon employees receive competitive wages and are eligible for comprehensive benefits that include 401(k) with 50 percent matching, bonuses, health insurance, company stock awards and a network of support.
Full-time employees are also eligible for the company's career choice program, in which Amazon prepays up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields.
