Revenue department hosts seminar for construction industry

The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) said Wednesday that it will hold a seminar on sales and use tax for the construction industry in April.
SCDOR staff members will emphasize sales, use and local taxes, employee versus independent contractor, exemptions and exclusions, maintenance and software concerns.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss specific issues with SCDOR staff.
People from the construction industry are invited to attend, whether they are accounts payable personnel, chief financial officers, accounting staff, business managers, tax professionals or other staff members that need to know the details about sales and use taxes in the construction industry. Representatives from other related industries are also invited to attend.
The seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22, 2015, at the Columbia Conference Center, 169 Laurelhurst Ave., Columbia. The fee is $45, and it includes a lunch and seminar materials.
