U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) released details on Thursday for two upcoming veterans job and resource fairs on March 9 and March 25.
The fairs will follow a series of workshops throughout South Carolina as parts of Scott’s Veterans Job Training Initiative.
The March 9 fair will be held at the North Charleston Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be more than 80 employers in attendance, including Boeing, Nucor, SCANA Energy, MUSC, SPAWAR, Verizon, Carolina One Real Estate, Sears and local government agencies.
The Columbia Regional Veterans Administration plans to have claims representatives at the event to assist veterans with claim processing.
Fair attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their current resumes or a list of former employers.
Scott is holding the fairs in partnership with the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, City of North Charleston, Operation Palmetto Employment, Columbia Regional VA, SC Works Trident, South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, and numerous area partners.
South Carolina’s unemployment rate for veterans was 3.5 percent in 2014, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said.
For registration or more information, contact Scott's office at 843-727-4525, 803-771-6112 or 864-233-5366.
