Registration is now being accepted for ManuFest 2015, a free career fair for local high school students who are considering careers with local manufacturers.
Open to students, parents and teachers, this year's event will be held on Saturday, March 28, at Souderton High School in Souderton, Pennsylvania.
There are a variety of opportunities in growing, well-paid sections of the industry, yet manufacturers are struggling to fill openings as the next generation of the workforce seems largely unaware of these opportunities.
To raise awareness of opportunities in manufacturing, the Montgomery County Commerce Department and the Montgomery Country Workforce Investment Board are collaborating with the MidAtlantic Employers’ Association on the fair.
“Manufacturing is an exciting, high-tech field with a broad array of career pathways, including design, sales, marketing, engineering, accounting, and more,” Josh Shapiro, the chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, said. “With ManuFest, we’re hoping to introduce young people to these possibilities.”
This is the second year that the event has been held.
“We had great feedback from last year’s event,” Shapiro said. “We’re looking forward to an even better event this year.”
