From sushi to sangria, two new restaurants opening in early 2017 will expand existing fare at Freshfields Village, a shopping and leisure destination not far from Charleston: Cantina 76 and Fuji Sushi Bar and Grill.
Both venues already operate in South Carolina, with Fuji Sushi based in Mt. Pleasant and the Cantina 76 Taqueria and Bar hailing from Columbia. Much appeal for the newest venues lies in their unique position of introducing new ethnic food offerings to the shopping hub.
“We are very excited to introduce Cantina 76 and Fuji Sushi Bar and Grill to the culinary offerings here at Freshfields Village,” Ward Kampf, president of Northwood Retail, said. “As no restaurants in the village currently offer Asian or Mexican cuisine, these establishments will make valuable addition to our dining scene and complement the robust retail offerings.”
Fuji will feature authentic Japanese cuisine including sushi, hibachi-cooked meals and Asian fusion fare. Cantina 76 will bring Mexican-inspired tacos, salads and handcrafted specialty beverages. The venues will offer wine, sake and craft brews, respectively.
Visitors to Freshfields Village, approximately 30 minutes from downtown Charleston, already enjoy a bevy of culinary choices: French bistro fare, Neapolitan style dishes, pub-style food and even nostalgic soda fountain selections, as well as soups and sandwiches, pastries and coffee, and wine and cheese.
The outdoor venue with courtyard patios regularly offers many cultural events at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook and Johns Islands.
