The Beach Company announced that its board of directors voted in favor of a settlement agreement that was recently approved by the Charleston Board of Architectural Review (BAR).
The agreement details what will happen with the redevelopment of the Sergeant Jasper location in Charleston as it would facilitate the construction of a new building. The development would improve the western portion of Broad Street and provide a public waterfront park.
“The agreement in place was a true collaboration between The Beach Company and the city that will not only benefit the BAR and its important role, but will result in a world-class project and waterfront park for generations to come,” John Darby, CEO of The Beach Company, said. “This agreement is a compromise that incorporates much of the preservation and neighborhood groups’ feedback and will result in a positive outcome for all parties.”
This settlement agreement was also approved by the Charleston City Council with 11 members voting in favor and one opposed.
The new building is being designed and built in partnership with Antunovich Associates, The Beach Company, LS3P Associates LTD and DesignWorks of Charleston.
The Beach Company is focused in real estate development, brokerage and property management.
