The recent passage of the House's approval of the Senate's amendment to legislature that allocates funding to the repair and rebuilding of roads and bridges throughout the Palmetto State was applauded by the South Carolina's State Chamber of Commerce.
“From day one, the Chamber has called on our state’s leaders to make roads a top priority and today we are pleased to see that the General Assembly has passed an infrastructure bill that moves our state forward," Chamber President Ted Pitts, said.
He called the measure "a big step in the right direction toward fixing our state’s roads and bridges by providing dedicated revenue streams, reforming DOT, improving the SCTIB (South Carolina Transportation Infrastructure Bank) process, and allocating resources to begin to bring South Carolina’s roads out of the disrepair that has hindered commerce and jeopardized the safety of our citizens for too long. We will continue the work with our state’s leaders to find the long-term solution South Carolinians deserve."
