The South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association recently gave the J. Bratton Davis Professionals Award to George B. Cauthen, who serves as a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s office in Columbia.
The award is named after J. Bratton Davis, who was the first bankruptcy judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. To receive the award, the lawyer must show dedication to legal scholarship, unimpeachable integrity, unfailing professionalism in every situation, civility to everyone, and significant contributions and improvements to the legal profession.
Cauthen is the leader of the Banking, Bankruptcy, and Creditors Rights Team based at Nelson Mullins. The Supreme Court of South Carolina has named him a Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law. In addition, Cauthen received his Certified Specialist in Consumer and Business Bankruptcy Law approval from the American Bankruptcy Board of Certification.
Cauthen has led several different community and professional organizations. He has received honors and recognitions from his peers through state and national rankings regarding his legal practice, and he has received several honors from the state for his service.
