An innovative, team-based leadership program will allow fledgling business owners and community leaders to learn from experienced executives in the Charleston, South Carolina area.
Leadership Discovery is an initiative of the Charleston Area Metro Chamber of Commerce. The five-month program is set up so a local business executive will meet with participants once a month.
This year’s executives include Dorchester County Councilman Jay Byars; Cantey Technology President Willis Cantey; Rewined Candles founder Adam Fetch; Charleston County School District Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait; and Charleston Promise Neighborhood CEO Sherrie Snipes Williams.
These presenters will answer questions for participants as well as help them connect with business and government contacts. During two two-hour sessions each month participants will receive personalized DISC assessments while they network, attend a business etiquette dinner and hone their personal and professional skills.
The Leadership Discovery application period closed today, March 30. Participants will begin with an orientation and Leadership Discovery Workshop on April 6; the program will culminate with the etiquette dinner and graduation ceremony on Aug. 30.
The $750 participation fee for the program was partially-funded for some non-profit organizations and Charleston Young Professionals representatives through scholarships.
