Regis Repko has been tapped by Duke Energy to be the new SVP and chief fossil fuel and hydro officer, replacing the retiring Charlie Gates.
Repko, who joined Duke in 1985 as a junior engineer at the company’s Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, South Carolina, is also the company’s current SVP of nuclear governance, projects and engineering. His new title will become effective April 1.
“Regis’ 30 years of experience in managing multiple generation sites, engineering, project leadership and governance will further enhance our existing generation expertise and position us for future success,” Dhiaa Jamil, EVP and president of regulated generation and transmission at Duke, said.
Repko holds a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering from Pennsylvania State University as well as a senior reactor operator’s license from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
In his new role, Repko will be tasked with overseeing Duke’s regulated fossil and hydro generation fleet, which encompasses outage and maintenance services and spans six states. He will help develop Duke’s fossil, nuclear and renewable generation products in an effort to reduce Duke’s carbon footprint and give its customers better products and services.
