To learn more about the environmental, fundamental and economic development advantages associated with offshore energy along the Atlantic Coast, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Environmental Committee welcomed members of the Consumer Energy Alliance late last week.
Although the chamber has not taken a position on offshore drilling, the board has expressed support for energy exploration.
Topics covered at the gathering of the chamber and committee included the federal government's plan to mull leasing options along the Southeast Coast; seismic testing permitting processes; videos of test demonstrations of seismic testing; methodology used for seismic testing; where refineries would be built and oil shipping processes.
