Nelson Lindsay has joined the South Carolina Department of Commerce as the agency's director of global business development.
Lindsay is charged with all project management activity for the department, as well as recruitment of new industry to South Carolina. Additionally, Lindsay will assist already-established Palmetto State businesses work toward growth.
Lindsay, a graduate of Wofford College with a bachelor's degree in history who also earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of South Carolina, is a South Carolina Certified Economic Developer who also earned a degree from the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma.
Before coming to the department of commerce, Lindsay worked for Richland County as the county's first director of economic development. There, he recruited new industries to the community and helped with existing industry with expansions. Prior to that, he was the director of economic development for Kershaw County for more than 14 years.
