South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Acting Secretary Christy A. Hall recently announced a new strategy, the goal of which is to repair the Palmetto State's highways and bridges.
“This is our road map to restore the state’s highway system and reestablish mobility across South Carolina,” Hall said.
The list was separated by counties; specific locations were noted as well as descriptions of the problems and projected re-opening dates.
Hall called the plan "aggressive," and noted that completion of any of the projects could be hindered by weather. She said SDCOT has already seen a 58 percent decrease in road closures after South Carolina's recent rain events.
“The work done by the SCDOT staff has exceeded expectations," she said. "The dedication of the employees who have been working 12-hour shifts, six days per week since the first weekend in October is unsurpassed."
