The South Carolina Department of Commerce, in partnership with Chester County Economic Development Council, will host a supplier outreach event for the Chester County Giti Tire project Wednesday from 4-5:30 p.m. in Richburg.
“When a company decides to do business in the Palmetto State, we make a commitment to support them and encourage their success," South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said. "Events like this supplier outreach event are a terrific example of that and a testament to the dedication of Team South Carolina.”
The South Carolina Giti Tire project was announced in June 2014 and will include a $560 million manufacturing facility that will create 1,700 new jobs in Chester County. In July the company, with general contracting firm Shimizu North America LLC, held a construction subcontractor outreach event to provide potential subcontractors with project details and information about the bid process.
The Wednesday outreach event will target non-construction suppliers, providing attendees with information about typical sourcing areas for a tire plant and an overview of the company’s vendor registration process.
“The leadership of Chester County continues to work hard to create opportunities that improve our citizens’ prosperity and their overall quality of life," Chester County Supervisor Shane Stuart said.
Brian Singleton, chairman of the Chester County Development Association, agreed.
“As the private partner in the ongoing business of economic development in Chester County, the Chester Development Association supports the upcoming Giti Tire Vendor Outreach Event," he said. "We want our local professionals to have every opportunity to present their skills to Giti Tire.”
Wednesday's event will take place at the Gateway Conference Center at 3200 Commerce Drive in Richburg. For more information, contact Karlisa Parker at (803) 377-1216.
