The finalists for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s fourth annual Honors Night recently were chosen.
The award categories include: The Trailblazer, The Beacon, The Rock Star, The Pillar and The Milestone.
Nominees for each category were submitted online and reviewed by a confidential selection committee, which discussed the nominations and narrowed them down to three finalists. The winners will be determined by secret ballot. In order to be eligible, an organization must be a member of the chamber in good standing who has met the specific requirements for each award.
“Honors Night awards are prestigious awards that carry with them a tremendous amount of respect within the community,” Kathleen Forbes, chief membership officer for the Chamber, recently told the Palmetto Business Daily. “In addition, Honors Night finalists and award winners get tremendous exposure and visibility for their companies.”
The free publicity finalists get in association with the Honors Night event extends beyond the event itself; the chamber’s website, social media platforms and several publications provide information on nominees and winners.
Their status as nominees and winners marks them as a “good place to do business," Forbes said; and these companies have an added element of innovation, uniqueness and desire to see the community flourish.
“The finalists, along with the winning organizations, display leadership, and are enhancing the community by continually raising the bar to create a thriving place to live, work and do business,” Forbes said.
The finalists for The Trailblazer are BoomTown, Home Telecom and Ingevity. For The Beacon, they are Joseph P. Riley, Jr., Park Circle and Trident Technical College’s Nursing and Science Building. The Rock Star’s finalists are DIG South, The Post and Courier, and WestRock Land and Development (for its development of Nexton). For The Pillar, finalists are Joint Base Charleston, LS3P and Roper St. Francis Healthcare. Finally, The Milestone’s finalists are Croghan’s Jewel Box, Freeland Construction Co., Inc. and Wonder Works.
Winners will be announced September 10 at the Honors Night event in the Carolina Ballroom of the Francis Marion Hotel.
