Frampton Construction Company LLC and Agracel Inc. recently signed a contract to renovate and construct the first MAIREC Precious Metals Recycling plant within the U.S.
Frampton is a regional full-service construction firm that supplies design and planning support, construction services, pre-construction and sustainability services in the Carolinas. Agracel is an industrial developer.
The project crosses 50,000 square feet; the plant will be based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. MAIREC is now part of a group of over 500 recycling companies based in South Carolina.
MAIREC is based out of Alzenau, Germany. It safeguards precious metals by recycling them, which allows manufacturers access to badly needed raw materials like platinum, silver, palladium, gold and rhodium, for their own production purposes.
The process meets all material requirements of the next generation of mobile telephones, computer processors and catalytic converters for cars. It also guarantees that raw material deposits will still be available for future generations.
The local business areas in Spartanburg anticipate the positive economic changes that MAIREC will bring with it to the local area.
“This announcement is a big win for both our recycling industry and the local Spartanburg community, and we all look forward to watching MAIREC thrive there for many years to come,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said.
